![]() He lives in the moment to some extent, enjoying pleasure wherever he can, and has developed a reputation as an unrepentant rake as a result. Regardless of how crazy it may appear, he is convinced that he, too, will die young. As a result, Anthony has a distorted perception of his own mortality. When Anthony’s father died when he was only eighteen, he had to grow up far too quickly, take up his title, and become the family’s man. I particularly appreciated Anthony and Kate’s support for one another in the face of adversity, since it demonstrated how much they cared for one another. While the hero and heroine in this story aren’t as damaged as some of the other romantic characters I’ve read, they do both have problems to overcome, which lead to some momentary angst. Two that come to mind are Kate’s overweight corgi leading them on a merry chase through the park and the Bridgerton siblings’ ultra-competitive game of Pall Mall. Some of the scenarios were extremely amusing and provided some excellent laughs. This, in my opinion, gave it a frantic atmosphere that was at times exhausting to read. There was much of Julia Quinn’s customary humorous bantering, however I must confess that the tale was a little conversation heavy at times. The Viscount Who Loved Me was an enjoyable read with both hilarious and touching moments. Although Anthony has adamantly stated that he would never love her, Kate isn’t ready to give up on her new husband that simply. Kate quickly falls for the attractive rogue, but an unforeseen turn of events puts Kate in jeopardy, forcing the couple to rush to the altar to escape a scandal. When Kate and her family are invited to a house party at the Bridgerton country estate, she sees a new side of Anthony that dramatically transforms her impression of him. Her interactions with Anthony leave her hot and agitated, as well as perplexed. She decides to do whatever it takes to sabotage the rakish viscount’s courting, but in the process, she unwittingly finds herself in some bizarre situations, putting her in close contact to the guy himself. Kate Sheffield is determined to keep Anthony Bridgerton away from her sister. Anthony hadn’t counted on her older sister’s interference or the aggravating lady stimulating his needs in a way that no other woman had ever done. ![]() She is a woman who satisfies his criteria for a marriage, but with whom he could never imagine falling in love. He doesn’t want to complicate his already-short existence by falling in love, so he sets out to pursue the latest ton’s toast. Anthony’s father died early, so he believes, perhaps erroneously, that he will die soon as well. Despite this, he has no desire to fall in love with his prospective bride. His parents were a bright example of a loving, happy marriage, so he knows love exists. Anthony Bridgerton has decided to settle down and carry on the family line after years as one of the most infamous rakes of the ton. ![]()
